FRESHMAN ORIENTATION

Last night we had freshman orientation at Martin High School. Yes, it is becoming more real as each day passes that Jerrad is going to start high school....even if I am ONLY 29! I know its hard to believe! Seems almost unreal! It was information overload. The school has 3,300 students!!! Only two, yes only two, junior highs feed this high school! That is a lot of kids! They seem to have a system that works. They seemed very organized and informative and have very high expectations for the students. I hope Jerrad enjoys the next four years. Right now, he can't wait to get there. I think he is excited about it. Hopefully that makes for a smooth transition.

Before we ever left for orientation I was working on the summer schedule. Trying to figure out vacations, VBS, Summer JAM, camps, sports, etc. That all sort of blew up after the high school deal. It seems that Lake Arlingtons Youth camp is going to overlap with the baseball camp at Martin. Back to square one rearranging the calendar. Jerrad and Danny have decided that they rather attend the baseball camp (might help to get to know the coach before school starts) than youth camp. Bonus is that it probably saves me about $125! Jerrad and Danny also think they would like to go to the summer workouts as well. Its starts at 6:00 A.M. That is not a typo it is in the A.M.! In the summer! That is when we are suppose to get to sleep late! Good thing I use pencil on my calendar. There might be more changes......you never know!

What is it?

Ok, yes I know its my foot! But check out the "flower". Kristy and I went on Friday to get spa pedicures. It was a much needed treat for our feet! I like to get the flower and usually specify....one big white flower in the middle! Since that was what she took off my toes I just assumed that she would put the same thing back on! Not a chance! It has sort of grown on me but I can't get past that at a glance it looks like I got something black on my toes! Good thing its still so cold and I need socks right now! So, I learned from that mistake.....always tell them one big white flower in the middle! If you don't tell them what you want you have no idea what you will get and its all for only "$4.00 dolla more!" If you 've ever been to a nail salon go to the link below and watch this video. It is so funny...and so true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj0s8OIU2y4

What a week!

Wow! It is finally Friday! This has been a long week and it seemed to go by really slow. I've spent a lot of time at school trying to get Jacob on track with his work. Today is the last day of the 3rd six weeks and next weeks report card might not be the prettiest he's had! Jerrad has been busy doing reviews and studying for semester exams. Then I worked everyday! One week I don't work at all and then this week I worked four days in a row! Not use to doing that. Today was catch-up day. Tried to get all my errands ran, groceries bought, allergy shot (before I forgot about it), had time for a spa pedicure (w/Kristy, of course)! We even made it to Miller for our weekly volunteer duty at the copy machine. We really didn't accomplish much today. The kids got out at 1:45. Wasn't much copying done in that 45 minutes! Now we have a long weekend. The kids are out of school Monday for the holiday and Tuesday for a teacher workday. Did I mention it is freezing cold? It is! I don't care for the cold. I'd rather it be warm. Especially warm enough for capris and flip flops. I so don't like closed toe shoes! I think my feet are claustrophobic! Of course there is Steve. He is so busy at work too. He is still without an assistant manager or a production manager! I'll be glad when this month is over and Rob is back at the shop. Maybe things will lighten for him.

Do you Rip-Stik?

I know your probably thinking what in the world is a Rip-Stik? Well, it is this little do-dad here.

Both the boys bought one of these new skateboards with some of their Christmas money. The first day they brought them home I was sure we were going to have some bones broke! Jerrad started off on his really well. Took Jake a couple of days to master it but he insisted he loved it. I was thinking they'd both wasted a lot of money! Especially Jake. If you can't ride it what good is it. They have both got it down now and like to skate around and throw the football at the same time! I love the way Jacob wiggles on his. He gets his arms into it and goes to town! Seems too hard for me! As I was watching them I did think it would be a great exercise. The balance thing would have to be some kind of workout on your abs and legs. Of course, I have not and will not attempt to board this thing! If you think you can....come on over and try. Dad, your not allowed to try....remember the scooter incident?!?!? In the meantime, check out the video I took of the boys doing it and playing football.

Rock Band!

So, last night was our weekly meet at No Frills Grill for dinner. Each Friday we meet Billy, Chrisse and Colton (Billy works at Service King with Steve) at No Frills and hang out. Last night after eating we went to their house to check out this game Rock Band on the PS3. Three people can play at once because you've got a drummer, a guitar player and a singer. I don't know who had more fun playing it Steve, Billy and Chrisse or Danny, Jacob and Jerrad! Then of course, we had Colton. He was our background dancer for the band! No, Colton was not in his pajamas. Those were his swim shorts and he was going swimming later! This is one little imaginative boy and he is only 3! Check out this video I took of Colton doing his dancin'! Bonus.....my new camera has sound with the video! Sweet!

OH NO.....High School!!!!

Well, Jerrad just got home from school. He brought me all the papers for registering for high school along with the 2012 Freshman Orientation Handbook! You have to have a handbook to figure this out! Its a little scary and a little exciting! But man, the pressure of picking classes. It says over and over to choose things that will help in your career! What 8th grader knows what they want to be right now?!?!? Electives can't be changed! Be careful in your choices! NO pressure there, huh?!?!? I'm all over this. Let's make our choices and get it done now. Jerrad doesn't even want to look at it. "Mom, its not due til January 31st. I need to think about it!", he says. I don't remember having this many electives to choose from. Well, actually now that I think about it I'm sure I did but I chose to go off campus to a Vocational-Technical school for 3 hours every afternoon. I was only at the high school for 3 hours in the morning. Guess thats why I don't remember having to fill in all those blanks! I just can't believe that its time to start thinking about all this! Where has the time gone. It seems like just a short while ago he was just this little boy. He is growing into a young man. I'm so not ready for that!

Here we go!

So, this is all new to me. Kristy has said you have to do it! When are you going to do it? Well...since it seems I have not worked one day this week and have run out of things to do.....I decided to try and set one of these things up! Being just a little OCD I'm worried that this is not going to look right when I'm done. So, bear with me while I learn! I'm gonna leave it at that for now so if I totally screw it up.....I won't have too much to correct! LOL
