The verdict is in....

Jacob has the flu! Took him to Dr. Geppert and he confirmed it with a test. I guess there are two different strains of the flu. One being you feel like you've been hit by a truck, are dying and have all the symptoms. Then there is the strain that you have fever, don't feel so hot but can function. In Jacob's case he has that strain. Of course he's functioning. He was acting a fool at the doctors office and I'm sitting there telling him I swear at 5:00 this morning his fever was a 101.5 and he felt bad! Since he'd already missed 3 days of school and the big TAKS reading test is next week he needs to get back. So, Dr. Geppert tested him so we knew if he could get some medicine. Sure enough he can. Here's the kicker...he can only get it in liquid form! It seems that Jacob does not weigh enough for the pill form of Tamaflu! That would be our luck. This kids hates...capital HATES...to take liquid medicine. He only weighed 65 lbs. Don't know what you have to weigh for the pills but that would've made things so much easier.

So, I'm on the phone on the way home telling mom he has to take liquid. So, she says tell Jacob if he takes his medicine I'll give him $5 next weekend! I tell Jacob and he comes back with "tell her to make it $10 and she's got a deal!" Mom did it! She said if he will take it she will give him $10! Now lets just see if this little bribe works or not. I hope so cause I hate the fight getting him to take medicine. He has to take this stuff 2 times a day! Luckily its the weekend and Steve will be here and he can help me get it down him! If they could make it taste like liquid Motrin that would be awesome. He loves that. But that's the only liquid medicine he likes. You should see us try to get him to take cough medicine!!!! Its just horrible!

Jacob is STILL sick!

When Jacob went to bed last night he had no fever. I went ahead and gave him Motrin anyway. About 5:30 this morning I heard someone rumbling in the hall closet. It was Jacob looking for a thermometer in the dark! His temperature was 101.5! Three days of fever and no other symptoms. Everyone asks is it the flu? I have no idea. I thought you were horribly sick with the flu. He's not just running fever! He did start coughing a little but nothing that I would rush him to the doctor over. He said this morning when he coughs it feels like his head is going to explode. So, I went ahead and called the doctor. There probably isn't anything they can do for him except give him more Motrin til the fever goes away. But I thought since it is Friday I'd feel better knowing I took him if he gets worse over the weekend.

So, we are at home AGAIN! It was so nice out yesterday and today should be about the same without all the wind! I'm so ready for Spring weather! Maybe Jacob will feel better later and want to get out of the house! I know I want to!

Jacob's been sick!

Jacob has been running fever off and on for 2 days now. I don't have a clue what is wrong with him. That is the only symptom he has! I guess he woke up about 4:00 A.M. Wednesday morning. He never woke us up! He stayed up til we got out of bed. I was getting ready for work when Steve went to leave. He found Jake in the living room. Took his temp and it was 100.3. Of course that means you can't send them to school! Steve said he'd stay home with him. (BONUS! I don't know that he's ever stayed home with the boys....perks of being the big boss I guess!!!!) Wednesday was the ONLY day I was working this week! I'd have hated calling Natalie. Anyway, he and Steve hung out of the day. Jacob just layed around a lot. I told him last night when he went to bed that if he woke up feeling bad to come downstairs and wake me up. About 4:30 this morning I feel this cold little finger poking me in the arm. Sure enough, Jacob. He was running fever again! Gave him some medicine and told him to try to go back to sleep. He chose to try this on the living room couch! After probably an hour I felt that cold finger poking me again. He couldn't go back to sleep so he was going to go lay on the couch in the game room and watch TV. I really didn't want to get up this morning. Just getting up those two times for a few minutes really messes me up during the night. I think I dozed off and on til about 7:30 and I knew I had to get up to make Jerrad's lunch before the bus came. I think Jacob is feeling better. We ran to CVS this afternoon for more Motrin and when we got home I made him take a nap. He could hardly stay awake in the truck. I hope he can make it to school tomorrow. He really wants to go cause they are having a volleyball tournament in P.E. We will have to wait and see if he make it through the night with no fever.

I want a clone!

So, Saturday morning I'm in the bathroom putting on my make-up and doing my hair. Jacob comes in and stands there for a little bit and then says, "I want a clone!" I asked him why and he tells me, "cause I would send my clone to school and I'd stay home and watch TV all day!" Anyone that knows Jacob knows he'd rather stay home than go to school! It was just real funny when he said it. He was totally serious about it too. Obviously he has learned something at school if he knew what a clone was!

The Boys

I haven't posted in a while. Been busy but not really anything interesting enough (I think) to write about. We did watch Hunter and Drew last Friday night. Our church had its first annual Impact Weekend for the teenagers. They were split into groups and stayed at host homes. Staci and Jacob were hosting a girls group so it was easier for the boys to spend the night here. I don't think we saw much of Hunter. He lived upstairs with Jacob playing "a game"! He loves the race car PlayStation games that Jacob has. That's all he wanted to do. After a while they finally settled down and I put them in Jerrads room on the bed and they watched Madagascar. It was a late night for Hunter. He didn't go to bed until 10:30! Poor little Drew was constipated. Staci informed me that she suspected this when I went to pick him up! Didn't really think much about it til he had been walking around munching on some McDonald's fries. He stood in front of Steve and started to take it all out of his mouth and about that time he threw up! Its been a while since I've had to take care of baby throw up (any throw up for that matter!). Luckily, Steve cleaned it up cause I don't do throw up! I put him in the kitchen sink and gave him a bath. After it was all cleaned up and he was in his pj's Steve rocked him and he fell asleep. He slept good I think til about 5:30 I heard him talking in the play pen. At 6:30 Steve got up with him. It was fun. The boys hadn't stayed with us in a while. I did take this cute video of Drew and Steve saying "Bebo" (that's what Hunter and Drew call Steve).

Spring Cleaning....or just cleaning!

About a week ago I cleaned out Jacob's room. When I say cleaned out I mean...went in there with a trash bag! He's been spending quite a bit of time in his room and it seems to get worse when he does that. So, I thought I'd get it cleaned up and straighten things. I got TWO...yes two...trash bags full of trash and junk! How can a ten year old accumulate so much trash? He has used more paper making airplanes, poppers (I hate the poppers!) and my favorite is the finger attachments he makes. He takes a whole sheet of paper and rolls it up to make it very long. Tapes it and then slips it over his finger. One isn't enough...he has to make ten! He looks like Edward Scissorhands with these things on his fingers! Of course, I found those in the toy box along with tons of other trash and you gotta love all those junkie toys you get in kids meals! Lets just say all that disappeared!

So, yesterday I thought it was about time to do the same to Jerrads room. I made him help. Bad thing about doing his while he was home...he wants to rearrange his room! We have lived here 2 1/2 years and his room has been rearranged more than the whole house put together! I agreed that we could do it. First, things first...clean out from under your bed so we can move it. I'm sitting on it while he's trying to pull stuff out. He finally says, "your going to have to get up cause when you sit on it there's this broke part that goes down to the floor". Great! I'm thinking the frame has broken or maybe just came apart and needs to be fixed. That would explain why when we are in the office it sounds like his bed is going to fall through the ceiling. He gets all that out (mostly his socks...no wonder he didn't have any!) and we start breaking it down to move it. He can't move small things. No, it was his bed and dresser that he wants to move! We get the box spring off and Jerrad goes, "look thats what's wrong with my bed. These boards are broken! Thats what is hitting the floor!" Yes, his bed is just a little worn out! While Jerrad and I worked on his room Steve and Jacob ran to Unclaimed Freight and bought a new box spring and mattress!

Took most of the afternoon but we got his room done! My wish is that one day my kids will understand when I clean their rooms like this...if they'd just maintain it...their rooms would be so nice, neat and clean! I know quit laughing...wishful thinking!

Steve's Toy

The parts are back and he's put the thing back together. This is Steve's new baby! He likes this so much better than the blue it was when he bought it. The paint job does make quite a difference.

I was Tagged!

Kristy tagged me, so here it goes!

I was 24 and had been married for a little over 6 years. Jerrad was 3 1/2 and Jacob was almost 6 months old. I don't remember a whole lot more. That kept me busy. I'd quit my job to stay at home with the boys. Most people know Jake didn't go to bed too easy at night so, I was very sleep deprived at the time!

5 things on my to-do list today...
1. Pick up Jacob from school
2. Call Linda
3. Work on a way to play Valentine pictionary (for 5th grade party)
4. Make dinner
5. Help Jacob with his homework

5 snacks I enjoy...
1. Chips and hot sauce (hot sauce from Uncle Julios is my favorite)
2. Carrots and ranch (homemade buttermilk Ranch)
3. Chocolate
4. Chocolate
5. Chocolate

5 places I've lived...
1. Moore, Oklahoma
2. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
3. Fort Worth, Texas
4. Arlington, Texas
(I've only got 4......not a fan of moving!)

5 jobs I've had...
1. Braum's
2. Cash America International, Inc.
3. Lake Arlington Baptist - Early Childhood Program (if this counted as work....Kristy and I probably had more fun than teachers should've at work!)
4. Babysitting (if this counts...it should...its lots of work!)
5. The Children's Place

5 things people don't know about me...
1. Steve and I met when I was 15!
2. I wanted to be an accountant (too bad it required more school.....not a fan of school!)
3. I don't like change (especially drastic change)
4. I don't like to speak in front of groups people (shock I know, for someone who likes to talk!)
5. I really do love my sister and am proud of her (even though I am hard on her at times)

I guess I really need some new friends on this blog thing! The only person I have to tag is Staci! Good luck with it!
